2 Acne Home Remedies For Those on a Budget

So you want to get rid of your acne but you are tired of spending your money on expensive acne products or you are on a budget and are seeking simple acne treatments. Here are 2 effective treatments that will not hurt either your face or your wallet.

1) Honey & Cinnamon – Honey has anti-bacterial qualities and is used quite frequently as an antiseptic to treat wounds and burns. There are many honey products though that are heat processed and do not work. What you should be looking for and get is Manuka Honey. Here is how you should do it:

Step 1 – Cleanse your face as per normal and dab it dry.

Step 2 – Mix 1 tbsp of honey with 1 and a half tsp of cinnamon powder and make it into a paste.

Step 3 – Apply a very thin layer to your face and set it for about 15 mins.

Step 4 – Wash it off and apply your toner and moisturizer.

Start off by doing this for 3 times a week and as your acne clears, you could reduce it to 2 times a week and then onto once a week for maintenance.

2) Baking Soda – This is also known as sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda. What baking soda does is to exfoliate your skin to make it smoother and to also reduce the redness and swelling of your acne. Here is how you use it:

Step 1 – After cleansing your face, do not dab it dry. Keep it wet.

Step 2 – Mix 1 tbsp of baking soda with 1 tsp of water. Modify to your requirements but do ensure the mixture is neither thick or diluted.

Step 3 – Apply it onto your face and rub gently in a circular motion for about 30 secs.

Step 4 – Wash it off and apply your toner and moisturizer.

If you have acne on your back or chest, this is also a good remedy. While this is a great treatment to smoothe and reduce the acne on your skin, please note that excessive use will irritate your skin and may make your acne worse. Therefore it is recommended that you do this 2 times a week only.
